The Princess of Wales has expressed her displeasure with the habit of consuming meals while seated on the sofa, describing it as a practice that “drives her insane.” This revelation, which she inadvertently disclosed, provided insight into the family’s dining customs.
In 2018, during a visit to an RAF base in Cyprus, the Princess of Wales unintentionally divulged a particular behavior of Prince William’s that caused her significant frustration – a situation to which many can relate. While inaugurating a new recreation facility, Prince William cautioned RAF members about keeping food away from the furniture, stating, “Keep the pizza off the sofas.” The Princess of Wales then responded, “You’re a nightmare with that.”
According to reports from the Daily Record, the mother of three’s ongoing battle to maintain a crumb-free environment on their furniture is a persistent challenge, as the couple is known to indulge in regular takeaway meals. Furthermore, during an interview with BBC Radio 1 in 2017, the Princess of Wales was inquired about the family’s takeaway preferences and her personal top choice.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have expressed their fondness for Indian cuisine, with the Duchess acknowledging her preference for spicy dishes, while the Duke admitted to favoring milder options such as chicken tikka masala. In a formal conversation, the Duchess remarked, “Absolutely, and curry, definitely. It doesn’t usually get ordered to the palace; we tend to go and pick it up,” before jokingly adding, “not ourselves!”
Prince William also disclosed his enjoyment of Nando’s, having been introduced to the restaurant by his police protection officer. Despite having access to some of the world’s finest cuisines, takeaways are a popular indulgence within the Royal Family, with the late Queen Elizabeth II also partaking in the occasional treat.
Notably, the late Queen’s favorite dish was reportedly a fish supper, which she would have her footman procure from the local town of Ballater while she was in Scotland. An insider previously confirmed to Fabulous, “She very occasionally treated herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was said to have unexpectedly enjoyed kebab cuisine in the past, as revealed by royal correspondent Jayne Seymour. According to Seymour, the Krazy Kebabs takeaway establishment in Swaffham received a delivery order destined for Sandringham House. The delivery driver recounted to Seymour, “I assumed the food was intended for a servant. However, upon arrival at the entrance, a butler received it, stating that it was for the Queen. I hope Her Majesty enjoyed it – we are renowned for serving the finest kebabs in Norfolk.”
In contrast, His Majesty King Charles III appears to have a predilection for Italian cuisine. In November 2019, during a visit to Scotland, a member of the public presented him with a pizza as he greeted the crowds in St Boswells. Chef Erminio Di meo informed the Press Association, “I wished to offer him the pizza as he is such an integral part of this nation. I stated, ‘It’s a margherita.’ I believe he responded, ‘It’s my favorite.'”
