King Charles III will not be meeting with Prince Harry during the Duke of Sussex’s current visit to the UK. According to royal expert Omid Scobie, Prince Harry made certain demands for the reunion that could not be accommodated. The Duke of Sussex arrived in London on Tuesday to participate in events related to the Invictus Games. While there were speculations about a potential reunion between Harry and his father, the King, a spokesperson has confirmed that such a meeting will not take place during this trip. The specific nature of Prince Harry’s demands has not been disclosed, but it appears they were deemed unacceptable for the proposed meeting to occur.

The decision by King Charles III not to meet with his son Prince Harry during the latter’s recent visit to the United Kingdom has been a subject of speculation and analysis. According to royal expert Charlotte Griffiths, this outcome followed “difficult” negotiations, wherein Prince Harry allegedly made “certain demands” regarding the individuals who could be present during their potential meeting.

In her remarks to GB News, Ms. Griffiths further suggested that “other forces” might have influenced the King’s stance on meeting with Prince Harry. She elaborated that Prince William may have expressed his perspective on how such a meeting should be conducted or whether it should take place at all. Additionally, Ms. Griffiths noted the complexities surrounding the presence of Camilla, the Queen Consort, during potential meetings between the King and Prince Harry, a decision that has not always been well-received by the latter.

A spokesperson for Prince Harry confirmed the news that a meeting with the King would not be possible during this visit, citing His Majesty’s “full programme” as the reason for the inability to arrange a meeting. The statement read: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.”

His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex is cognizant of the extensive commitments and priorities that occupy His Majesty the King’s schedule, and he remains hopeful for an opportunity to convene with his father in due course. In the interim, the Duke will attend a commemorative service at St Paul’s Cathedral this evening, marking the decennial anniversary of the Invictus Games, a prestigious sporting event he co-founded in 2014 to support injured servicemen and women.

Subsequent to his visit to the United Kingdom, the Duke, accompanied by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex, will embark on a journey to Nigeria to participate in discussions pertaining to the Games. While the relationship between the Duke and His Majesty has been strained, the Duke returned to the United Kingdom in February to meet with the King following the announcement of His Majesty’s cancer diagnosis, during which they engaged in a 30-minute meeting at Clarence House before the Duke’s return to America.
