Prince Harry and Prince William might find themselves in New York City at the same time next month, which could lead to an awkward situation given their strained relationship. Prince Harry, 39, plans to visit New York City solo in September after recently completing a four-day tour of Colombia with his wife, Meghan Markle. His visit to New York is set to coincide with the UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week. While in New York, Harry is expected to promote various charitable causes and engage with organizations such as African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst. He will also be highlighting the work of The Archewell Foundation, a nonprofit he co-founded with Meghan.

Meanwhile, Prince William, 42, has plans to attend the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit in Manhattan on September 24. The summit will take place around the same time William’s children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—return to school after their summer holidays. However, it remains uncertain whether William will attend the summit in person this year. The potential overlap of their visits to New York has led to speculation about whether the estranged brothers will cross paths.

The tension between Prince Harry and Prince William has been a topic of much discussion. Friends of Prince William have speculated that Harry may not be invited to William’s future coronation when he eventually becomes king. There is also a belief that the next time the two brothers might meet in person could be at their father King Charles’ funeral. Jennie Bond, a former BBC Royal correspondent, shared her views with OK! Magazine, stating that the rift between the brothers appears to be irreparable. She suggested that while Harry may desire some form of reconciliation, William is unlikely to entertain such thoughts. She added that if Harry were to attend a future coronation, he would need to be invited, and currently, an invitation seems improbable. However, she also mentioned that circumstances could change over time, although she would not be overly optimistic.

Additionally, Jennie Bond noted that Prince William has more pressing concerns, such as dealing with his father’s illness, supporting his wife Catherine through her own health challenges, and raising their three young children. William is also heavily involved in his duties as the Prince of Wales, which leaves him little time to think about his estranged brother.

Prince Harry stepped down from his royal duties in January 2020, relocating to the United States with Meghan and their son, Prince Archie. The couple’s high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey and their Netflix series have kept them in the public spotlight. Harry’s memoir “Spare,” released in 2023, added further strain to his relationship with the Royal Family.

Since leaving the UK, Prince Harry has made only a few trips back, with his children visiting the UK just once for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. Princess Lilibet, born in the United States, met her grandfather, King Charles, only during this event. The potential overlap of Harry and William’s visits to New York has sparked interest and speculation about whether the two brothers might have an unexpected encounter amidst their busy schedules.
