On August 25, 2024, Kate Middleton made a rare public appearance that drew significant attention, particularly because of her limited public engagements this year following her cancer diagnosis. A prominent body language expert has noted three subtle but telling signs of how the Princess of Wales is feeling.

According to Judi James, Princess Kate appeared “chatty and animated” during her recent outing at the royal residence in Balmoral, Scotland. Despite the challenges she has faced this year, her demeanor during this event was notably upbeat. James observed that Kate’s body language, including the way she raised her eyebrows while speaking and the visible dimples in her cheeks, indicated a genuine sense of enjoyment and relaxation. Kate was seen in the passenger seat of a car driven by her husband, Prince William, and appeared “relaxed” and in good spirits. The presence of her smile, which was mirrored by William’s, further suggested her positive mood.

James also highlighted that Kate’s outfit, particularly her hat adorned with a feather, contributed to her jaunty and cheerful appearance. This subtle fashion choice, along with her warm smile, seemed to reflect her overall positive and upbeat attitude during the outing.

On this occasion, Kate attended a church service at Crathie Church near Balmoral, joined by Prince William, King Charles, and Queen Camilla. Prince George was also seen in the back seat of their vehicle. King Charles and Queen Camilla were observed heading to the service, while Prince Edward traveled separately. A special guard of honor featuring pipers from the Scottish Balaklava company welcomed the royal party upon arrival.

Kate’s appearance at Crathie Church was notable as it marked her first public sighting since her participation in the Trooping the Colour ceremony in June and her presentation of Carlos Alcaraz with his Wimbledon trophy in July. Ahead of her Trooping the Colour appearance, Kate had publicly addressed her health, acknowledging the ups and downs of her chemotherapy treatment. She described her progress as positive, though she emphasized the variability of her condition, with both good and challenging days.

The Princess of Wales had shared her experience of recovery, expressing gratitude for the good days when she felt stronger and able to engage with her royal duties and personal interests. Her public statement underscored her commitment to making the most of her well days while managing her ongoing treatment.

Kate’s appearance at Crathie Church also marked a return to a location that has long been associated with the Royal Family. The church has been a regular site for royal worship during their stays at Balmoral for over a century. It was also the location of a private service following Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022, and a Sunday service in 1997 after Princess Diana’s passing.

This recent outing provides a glimpse into the Princess’s current state of well-being and her ability to maintain a positive public presence despite the challenges she has faced.
