The party goods business founded by Carole Middleton, the mother of the Princess of Wales, has been sold after entering administration. Party Pieces was established in 1987 when Carole Middleton sought inspiration for her daughter Kate’s fifth birthday party. The company has been acquired by entrepreneur James Sinclair for an undisclosed sum. Initially, Party Pieces operated from the four-bedroom family home in Bradfield, Berkshire.

The mail order business faced challenges and was subsequently placed into administration. However, it was promptly acquired by the Teddy Tastic Bear Company, one of the multiple companies owned by Mr. Sinclair. It is anticipated that the company’s 12 employees will transition to the new ownership.

The business specializes in offering a diverse range of party and birthday-related products, including personalized helium balloons, banners, and cakes. As stated on their website, “Our party expertise will help you turn a milestone into a memory,” highlighting their commitment to creating memorable celebrations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a substantial impact on Party Pieces’ trading operations, according to administrators Interpath Advisory. The restrictions on social gatherings, which are a core aspect of the party supplies business, have exerted significant pressure on the company’s cash flow. As a result, the directors have been compelled to explore various options to address the situation.

Will Wright from Interpath Advisory acknowledged that while Party Pieces is a well-established brand with a proud British heritage, it has been profoundly affected by the pandemic, similar to many other companies in the retail sector.
