Justin Trudeau’s ex gives Meghan Markle cold shoulder after duchess describes her as ‘dear friend’

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has previously described Sophie Trudeau, the ex-wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as a close friend who provided her with encouragement and support. However, recent indications suggest that the friendship between the two may not be as close as Meghan portrayed.

In November 2022, during her now-defunct podcast “Archetypes,” Meghan spoke fondly of Sophie, stating, “I’ve gone to her over the years for advice.” She also mentioned that Sophie would send her meditations during her pregnancy and voice notes of encouragement.

Despite Meghan’s claims of a close friendship, Sophie Trudeau does not seem to reciprocate the sentiment publicly. This discrepancy has led to speculation that the relationship between the two may have cooled or become more distant than Meghan initially portrayed.

While the exact nature of their current relationship remains unclear, the contrasting perspectives suggest that the friendship between Meghan Markle and Sophie Trudeau may not be as strong or close as it once appeared.

The reported camaraderie between Meghan and Sophie has seemingly undergone a shift, as evidenced by their contrasting accounts of their friendship. While Meghan portrayed a close bond, with their children playing together and the two women enjoying convivial moments over wine, Sophie’s recent remarks suggest a more distant relationship, acknowledging their acquaintance but downplaying the extent of their interactions.

This apparent discrepancy has fueled speculation about the potential causes behind the apparent rift. One plausible factor could be Meghan’s reported estrangement from her former close friend Jessica Mulroney, who previously served as Sophie’s stylist. The dynamics within this social circle may have contributed to the strain between Meghan and Sophie.

Furthermore, Sophie’s candid expression of concern upon learning of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis highlights the depth of her empathy and the significance she attaches to her relationships within the royal family’s inner circle.

While the precise circumstances surrounding the apparent shift in Meghan and Sophie’s friendship remain unclear, the contrasting narratives underscore the complexities and nuances that can arise within interpersonal dynamics, particularly in high-profile social spheres.

According to reports from Page Six, a source informed the outlet that Meghan Markle harbored suspicions that Jessica Mulroney was “attempting to capitalize on their friendship” for professional gain. Concurrently, a royal expert asserted that Meghan Markle was also exploiting the friendship for her own purposes.

Charlotte Griffiths, while speaking on the program Palace Confidential, stated, “I believe she exhibits a strategic approach in her selection of friends, and once she has exhausted their utility, she promptly severs ties, disregarding them entirely, even going so far as to delete and block their contact information in certain instances.”

Griffiths then referenced an Urban Dictionary slang term – “Markled” – which derives its name from the Duchess herself. This term describes the act of distancing oneself from an individual who had previously contributed meaningfully to one’s life.

At present, Meghan Markle appears to be focused on launching her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. She recently dispatched 50 jars of jam from the brand to notable figures such as Kris Jenner.
