King Charles’ ‘useful ally’ during Prince Harry feud as he vows to see Archie and Lilibet

King Charles’ complicated relationship with Prince Harry has inadvertently strengthened his bond with Prince William, who has become a significant support for the monarch amid ongoing family tensions. Insiders reveal that despite the distress Charles feels over his strained relationship with Harry, he has found solace and assistance in William, who has been a steadfast ally in navigating the fallout from Harry’s departure from royal duties and his public criticisms of the royal family.

Following Harry’s decision to step back from royal life and his subsequent revelations in interviews and his memoir “Spare,” the bond between Charles and Harry has remained fractured. However, this turmoil has brought Charles closer to his eldest son and heir, Prince William. William has played a crucial role in supporting the King, especially during his treatment for cancer, by managing official engagements and handling the media aftermath of Harry’s statements.

There were rumors in the past that Charles might have felt overshadowed by the media attention given to William and Princess Kate, potentially causing jealousy. However, sources now assert that any such feelings are a thing of the past. The King reportedly views William as an invaluable ally in both family matters and state responsibilities.

An insider told The Times that any sense of rivalry between Charles and William is now resolved. The King sees William as a vital partner in both family affairs and the execution of national duties. Additionally, a source close to William mentioned that the Prince of Wales is dedicated to supporting his father through his current health challenges and the ongoing family issues with Harry.

Charles is also reportedly keen on fostering a closer relationship with Harry’s children, Archie and Lilibet. Despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure from royal life and their relocation to California, Charles is determined to be an involved grandfather. He has only seen Archie, five, a few times and met Lilibet, two, just once. Recently, he made a significant gesture by sending a heartfelt gift and card to Lilibet on her birthday.

Since his cancer diagnosis in February, Charles has had to reduce his public engagements, prompting him to reflect more on family matters. He is now more committed than ever to being present in his grandchildren’s lives. Friends of the King say he is eager to make up for lost time with his family.

Prince Harry, Meghan, and their children reside in Montecito, California. Their relationships with the royal family have been strained by high-profile interviews, a Netflix documentary, and Harry’s memoir. Despite these challenges, those close to Charles describe him as a reflective and devoted grandfather, particularly to William’s children: Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six. He is described as a “fantastic and enthusiastic grandpa.”

Sources also suggest that Camilla, the Queen Consort, has been a significant influence in Charles’s renewed efforts to connect with all his grandchildren. She has supported his desire to be more present in their lives, underscoring his deep commitment to family. A source emphasized that Charles values family above all and would never be satisfied with limited video call interactions with his grandchildren.
