Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly experiencing a significant shift in their social circle due to their ongoing feud with Prince William, with many old friends reportedly choosing to align with William.
The brothers, once close-knit, now find themselves in a bitter dispute that has impacted their mutual acquaintances. According to royal experts, this rift has led to Harry and Meghan losing touch with several friends who have been forced to pick sides in the family feud.
Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl, speaking on Vanity Fair’s podcast *Dynasty: The Royal Family’s Most Challenging Year*, highlighted the repercussions of the ongoing conflict. “The ties have definitely been severed,” Nicholl stated. “There’s a sense that friends—whether they are close, societal, or celebrity—have had to choose between the two camps. I was informed by someone at the Palace that there was a clear expectation to align with one side or the other.”
Nicholl pointed out a notable example: the recent wedding of the Duke of Westminster. “William received an invitation, and while Harry was invited due to their longstanding friendship, he was effectively asked to step back from attending. The presence of both brothers at such an event would have been extremely uncomfortable.”
Since relocating to California, Harry and Meghan have been seen with various high-profile individuals. Recently, Meghan was spotted having lunch with Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and the Sussexes attended a fundraiser hosted by Kevin Costner earlier this year.
Nicholl observed, “I must admit, I’ve found the list of celebrities they’ve been seen with somewhat underwhelming. Although I have great respect for Kevin Costner, I expected them to be more frequently associated with high-profile A-listers like Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow. It seems they are striving for a more private life in Montecito, avoiding the paparazzi and celebrity magazines. They likely host numerous VIP gatherings that we are unaware of.”
