Why Kate Middleton ‘resents’ Meghan Markle after Queen died

The long-standing tensions between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle reportedly escalated during the final moments surrounding Queen Elizabeth II’s passing in September 2022. According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, author of the book “Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed,” the Princess of Wales harbored resentment towards Markle for causing her to miss bidding farewell to the late monarch.

Jobson alleges that Middleton, 41, felt compelled to remain in England while the Queen was on her deathbed at Balmoral, as a measure to prevent Prince Harry, 38, and Markle, 41, from traveling to Scotland. The author claims that King Charles had instructed both wives to stay behind, deeming it inappropriate for spouses to be present during the Queen’s final moments, which were reserved solely for children and grandchildren.

“Harry was insisting Meghan travel with him to Scotland as the queen’s life ebbed away, but the king said it was only for the children and grandchildren to be with the queen,” Jobson, 49, stated in his account of the events.

The biographer made claims about the dynamics within the royal family regarding the attendance at certain events. It was alleged that Prince Charles requested Prince William not to bring Kate Middleton, the then-Duchess of Cambridge, as it would have been unfair to exclude Meghan Markle. The biographer suggested that Charles privately wanted to exclude Meghan but could not directly convey that to Prince Harry, so he intervened and asked Kate to stay back to maintain fairness.

Despite this reported incident, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were seen together at Wimbledon in July 2018. However, the biographer also mentioned that Kate was eager to visit Balmoral before the Queen’s passing due to their close friendship.

These claims provide insights into the reported tensions and considerations within the royal family regarding attendance at events and the relationships between different members.

The book “Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown” by Valentine Low sheds light on the circumstances surrounding Queen Elizabeth II’s final moments and the presence of certain royal family members. According to the author, Kate Middleton deliberately stayed away, despite her desire to be present, which has reportedly caused resentment towards Meghan Markle. On the day of the Queen’s passing, September 8th, Kate was seen picking up her children from school.

Among those who rushed to Scotland to be with the Queen were King Charles III, his wife Camilla, Princess Anne, and the Queen’s doctor, Huw Thomas. Prince William, Prince Edward, his wife Sophie, and Prince Andrew also traveled to the Scottish residence after the Queen’s death. Prince Harry, though he arrived, was unfortunately too late to bid farewell to his grandmother.

The Post has reached out to representatives of the palace, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle for comments regarding the new allegations mentioned in the book, seeking their perspectives on the claims made.

In another section of the book, Jobson delves into how Kate Middleton found the walkabout she participated in with Prince William, Harry, and Meghan just days before Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral to be “one of the hardest things” she ever had to undertake, shedding light on the emotional challenges faced during that solemn occasion.

The decision for the foursome to conduct the walkabout at Windsor Castle in September was made to present a united front, an idea proposed by Prince William as a means to demonstrate solidarity amidst the mourning period following the Queen’s passing.

On September 10, the group, dubbed “the Fab Four” by the UK press, walked the grounds of Windsor Castle to greet well-wishers and mourners, allowing the public to pay their respects and share in the collective grief.

The royal walkabout at Windsor Castle on September 10, 2022, was reportedly delayed due to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle needing to change into appropriate mourning attire. According to NBC’s royal commentator Daisy McAndrew, the event was scheduled nearly an hour before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex actually appeared. McAndrew stated that Harry and Meghan had to go and change into formal mourning clothes, with Meghan likely needing time for hair and makeup as well. This delay resulted in their late arrival to view the floral tributes left for the late Queen Elizabeth II alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton.
